The congress IAC Barcelona 2016 will focus on specific content that will give meaning to the meeting of the Academy, related to what Catalonia and the city of Barcelona can best contribute to the members of the IAC and which has been chosen as the theme for this event: Ceramics in Architecture and Public Spaces.
The presence of ceramics in architecture has been a constant throughout time and can be found in virtually all cultures and territories. Indeed, humans have found in terracotta a means to build and beautify homes and buildings for the most diverse uses imaginable. including important design elements that beautify public spaces. This evolution has been impressive, from houses made of adobe to sophisticated constructions with elements by the most audacious contemporary ceramists and architects.
Congress theme has been divided into three parts with one theme devoted to each meeting day.
The morning of the first day Monday 12 will be the General Assembly of IAC and the opening session with Wang Shu and Toni Cumella. Each afternoon will be dedicated to a ceramic tour to different places of Catalonia.
